Petersburg Downtown Plan

The City of Petersburg sought a team of professionals to develop a master plan to chart the next 15 years of growth and change in their Downtown. The City needed tangible goals to revitalize the downtown through economic development, connection improvements, re-activating vacant spaces and celebrating the arts. Interface Studio invited Monteverde to join their team, specifically for our expertise in transportation, parking, urban streetscapes and connectivity. Our team identified a strong need for signage improvements highlighting downtown amenities, a community gateway, and streetscape improvements to enhance sidewalk/crosswalk safety and invite visitors to stay longer. Traffic studies, stakeholder interviews and site visits allowed the team to develop proposed street section diagrams for the main corridors of the city, methods for activating the underutilized streets and improve pedestrian connections and experiences. More street trees, street lights and sidewalk pavement improvements will set the foundation for economic growth and community pride.
